Yelandur Bale Mantapa and Gowrishwara Temple



Yelandur Temple - Yelandur is an talluk head quarter located around 60 KMs from Mysore.  Here we can see different Gowrishwara temple built by Deva Bhoopala (Singadeepa) in 1550. Temple has 3 Mantapa in directions (Cross type) with well carved Pillars. Temple also has Half Mantapa. Special of this temple Garbhagudi  is located around 6 Ft below ground level, that is why it is also known as Pathaleswara temple.In Garbhgudi Shivalinga is there.  On left side similar type temple is there for Lord Parvathi.  Behind to this Panchliga temple is there.

Speciality of these temple is temple has beautiful Pravesha mantapa (Main entrance) built by Mudda Bhoopa in 1655. Mantapa built in Black stone with beautiful carvings in outer wall.  Bhuvaneswari has beautiful Lotus structure.  Main attraction of this mantapa is it has stone bangles (Bale) in 4 end and main entrance.  On each side 4 Bangles are there.  That is why it is known as Bale Mantapa.
