Javagal Lakshminarasimha temple




Javagal is located just 12 Kms from Halebeedu has one of the fine temple of Hoysala.  Sri Lakshminarasimha temple built during 13th Century (1205). Temple is built on Star shape platform as usual like in other Hoysala temples.  This is also one of the trikutachala temple has Lakshminarasimha, Venugopala and Sridhar gods in garbhagudi.

Main attraction of this temple is its outer wall. It contains carvings of Elephant’s, Flower and various ancient stories. On middle row of outer walls contains beautiful carved 150 god’s statue.  Temple’s shikara also well carved with various stories and structures.

In Navarnaga we can see well carved Dwarabhanda (Door entrance) and in Pathalanakana 35 ft Deepasthamba is there. Here we can also see Chandranatha basadi.

Belavadi one of beautiful Hoysala Temple


One of the beautiful Hoysala temples located just 10 KMs from Halibeedu. This is Triktacha temple (3 God’s are there in single temple complex).




Main temple is Veeranarayana Temple built during 12th century has 2 Garbhagudi, Sukanasi, Navaranga and Mukamantapa (Front Entrance).  Pravesha mantapa (Main entrance) built later stages has 2 Big Elephant statue.  In Sabha mantapa (meeting hall) contain 46 beautifully carved pillars.  Shikara contain 3 stages with various gods’ statue. In garbhagudi we can see Veeranarayana statue (6 ft), is known to be one of the beautiful statue of its kind during Hoysala period.

Venugopala temple built during 16th century added to Veeranayarana temple on later stage. Temple Gopura has well carved structure includes Venugopala, Harihara, Garuda, Narayana.Keshava and other structures. In garbhagudi we can see 7 ft Venugopala, one of the beautiful statues of Hoysala. Carvings of fingers with flute also well carved and it can also see cleanly.

Yoganarasimha temple also well carved like Venugopala temple which is opposite to Venugopala temple.  These two temples are linked with main temple by Sabha mantapa. Entire temple was well carved and best example of Hoysala temple.

Whenever you visit Belur and Halebeedu don’t miss to see this temple, it has just near to it and can be easily visit by vehicle.  No frequent bus facilities are there.

Yelandur Bale Mantapa and Gowrishwara Temple



Yelandur Temple - Yelandur is an talluk head quarter located around 60 KMs from Mysore.  Here we can see different Gowrishwara temple built by Deva Bhoopala (Singadeepa) in 1550. Temple has 3 Mantapa in directions (Cross type) with well carved Pillars. Temple also has Half Mantapa. Special of this temple Garbhagudi  is located around 6 Ft below ground level, that is why it is also known as Pathaleswara temple.In Garbhgudi Shivalinga is there.  On left side similar type temple is there for Lord Parvathi.  Behind to this Panchliga temple is there.

Speciality of these temple is temple has beautiful Pravesha mantapa (Main entrance) built by Mudda Bhoopa in 1655. Mantapa built in Black stone with beautiful carvings in outer wall.  Bhuvaneswari has beautiful Lotus structure.  Main attraction of this mantapa is it has stone bangles (Bale) in 4 end and main entrance.  On each side 4 Bangles are there.  That is why it is known as Bale Mantapa.

Marale Twin Hoysala Temple - Near Belur



Marale is small city just 18 KMs from Belur on the way to Chickmagalur, it is not its speciality - here we can see 2 Hoysala temples built during 12th century.  Here we can see Shiva and Vishnu temple in one platform.  It is one of the rare temple of its kind. In 1130 Channakeshava temple was built by Rayanna, a Dandanayaka of King Vishnuvardhana.  Temple consists Garbhagudi, Sukanasi, Navaranga and Mantapa.  In front of mantapa we can see 2 Elephants. Navaranga consists hoysala style 4 pliers with 5 Madanike. In garbhagudi 6 ft Keshava statue is there.  Later during Vishunvardhana son Narasimha built Shiva temple adjacent to this temple. It is smaller compare to Keshava temple, but it has beautiful carvings on outer walls. Sarswathi, Ganapathi, 8 horse Surya structure are there. Temple has Garbhagudi, Sukanasi, Navaranga and Mukamantapa. Here shivalinga is there.In complex we can see script of hoysala. Whenever you visit Belur, pl visit this temple also.

Pavagada Shaneeswara Temple
